How to Capture Flattering Nail Photos
You don’t need a professional setup to take great nail photos. Whether you have natural light or just your nail desk lamp, both can work really well when used correctly.
1. If You Have Natural Light
- Stand near a window for soft, even lighting
- Let the light hit the nails from the side, not directly above
- This helps show shape and detail without harsh shadows
2. If You’re Using a Nail Desk Lamp (What I Use)
- Angle the lamp slightly from the side
- Avoid shining it straight down onto the nails
- Move the light back if it looks too bright or washed out
3. Keep the Setup Simple
- You don’t need a full photo setup
- A clean desk and neutral background is enough
4. Guide the Hands
- Most clients won’t know how to pose naturally
- Gently guide their hands into positions that show the shape best
5. Take a Few Extra Shots
- Small angle changes make a big difference
- Take a few photos so you can choose the best one later
Here are some of my go to poses that I love using as they work perfectly for both story posts and feed posts, depending on the vibe you’re going for!
